Warehouse reference · Packing & shipping
Proof of delivery
Proof of delivery records evidence associated with a delivery event, where provided by the carrier or delivery process. It is downstream from warehouse dispatch and may include status, time, acknowledgment, or other agreed evidence.
How it works in practice
Link carrier references to the warehouse shipment and distinguish delivered, attempted, refused, and other outcomes. Define what information is available, when it arrives, and who investigates an exception.
A warehouse example
The WMS confirms dispatch on Monday, but the carrier reports a delivery attempt on Tuesday. These records describe different milestones, not a contradiction by themselves.
Illustrative scenario, not a claim about a client engagement.
What to watch for
A tracking status is not always the same as complete delivery evidence. Confirm the meaning and reliability of the information supplied by each provider.
A useful question
What evidence is required before a delivery-related inquiry can be closed?
Terminology and configuration differ by product. These notes explain general concepts and are not operating instructions for equipment, a compliance determination, or a replacement for your site’s approved procedures.
