Warehouse reference · Reporting & administration

User roles and permissions

Roles group the actions users may perform. Warehouse access should reflect responsibilities, including distinctions between execution, investigation, approval, administration, and integration. Convenience is not a sufficient reason for unrestricted permissions.

How it works in practice

Map business responsibilities to supported permissions, review conflicts, test representative users, and define onboarding and removal processes. Keep privileged and service access under clear ownership.

A warehouse example

A picker may need to report a shortage but not approve an inventory adjustment. Separating those actions supports review without preventing exception reporting.

Illustrative scenario, not a claim about a client engagement.

What to watch for

Shared accounts weaken traceability and make access removal difficult. Use the organization’s approved identity controls and account lifecycle practices.

A useful question

Can access be removed promptly when a role or employment relationship changes?

Terminology and configuration differ by product. These notes explain general concepts and are not operating instructions for equipment, a compliance determination, or a replacement for your site’s approved procedures.
