Shipment confirmation

Shipment confirmation records the business event that the defined dispatch process treats as shipped. Label creation, packing completion, loading, and vehicle departure are different events and should not be casually substituted for one another.

How it works in practice

Agree the confirming event, responsible role, quantities, references, and destination systems. Test partial shipments, cancellations, corrections, and messages delayed after the physical departure.

A warehouse example

Printing a carrier label may create tracking information before the parcel is loaded. Reporting that moment as final dispatch can mislead customers and inventory reconciliation.

Illustrative scenario, not a claim about a client engagement.

What to watch for

An automatically transmitted confirmation still needs business meaning. Ensure retries cannot create duplicate downstream events or change the confirmed quantity unexpectedly.

A useful question

Which observable event authorizes the final shipped status?
