Reslotting and relocation plans

Reslotting changes an item’s assigned or preferred storage arrangement. The decision becomes useful only when physical moves, system settings, open work, and labels stay synchronized during the transition.

How it works in practice

Prioritize moves, establish the before-and-after location rules, and coordinate with active allocation and replenishment. Verify physical completion and the updated system behavior before declaring the move finished.

A warehouse example

A pick face changes while an old replenishment task remains open. Without a transition rule, stock can be sent back to the retired location after the move.

What to watch for

A recommendation list is not an executable move plan. Account for temporary space, labor, equipment, label changes, and the operational window available.

A useful question

Which open tasks or location rules could recreate the old arrangement?
