Yard and trailer visibility
Yard visibility connects trailers or transport units to their observed location and operating state. Expected, arrived, waiting, at door, loaded, empty, and departed states describe different conditions and need dependable updates.
How it works in practice
Identify the trailer, capture gate and movement events, assign location and responsibility, and reconcile status when observations conflict. Connect the relevant appointment and shipment without assuming they are interchangeable identifiers.
A warehouse example
A trailer appears on the appointment list but has not arrived. Another is physically in the yard but lacks a usable shipment reference. Both require different follow-up.
Illustrative scenario, not a claim about a client engagement.
What to watch for
A last recorded yard position may be stale after an unreported move. Procedures for physical confirmation matter as much as the digital map.
A useful question
How is an unidentified or unexpectedly moved trailer brought back under control?
